Chef Employment
After graduating from culinary school, in order to find employment, the former student needs to acquire practical experience, apart from the educational knowledge that he allegedly assessed in school.the competition is very intense in this domain, because it is a very demanding job market. Getting chef employment is not the main issue in this area of work. The main problem is putting up to the high pressures of this demanding job.
When searching for chef employment, one needs to know that there are very many types of establishments that require chefs: restaurants, hotels, casinos, resorts, cruise chips, private clubs. For the more lucky persons, chef employment can be provided by famous wealthy people who need a personal chef. Although it sounds much better, it is as demanding as any other job as a chef.
Don’t be mislead into thinking that all a chef does is cook. There are different responsibilities a chef has to undertake. If you are the main or executive chef, you have to oversee all the food production process. Also, you have to plan the menus, purchase the food, detail the work schedules of the staff that is under your charge.
In the chef employment hierarchy, following the main chef is the sous chef. He is the one that makes sure all high standards are met. It is his responsibility to see to every detail of the production process and to every activity of the staff.
Other positions that chef can occupy are sauce chef and poissonier or the fish chef. The hierarchy of chef employment continues with the vegetable cook or the entremetier. The rotisseur chef is in charge of making roasted of braised meats, the pantry chef specializes in cold foods such as salads, dressings, pates, cold hors d’oeuvres and other foods that are served on the buffet tables. The last level in chef employment is that of patissier chef.
